Background
Energy Savers 2 is a professional Energy Consulting firm founded at the inception of Energy Deregulation in Chicago Illinois, the Energy Hub of the Midwest, by a group of Purchasing Consultants, Energy Consultants, Energy Aggregators, Energy Brokers, and experienced professionals.
Our background is in professional procurement. After holding several positions in procurement for large multinational corporations, our founders started US GAS Electric & Tel. a fee based professional Purchasing and Cost Reduction Consulting Firm, in 1991.
When energy deregulated, we were asked over and over to negotiate energy contracts for our clients. Hence, the birth of Energy Savers 2. We now focus all of our efforts on the procurement and analysis of Energy... and we do it well!!!
Our Energy Management Process
After you decide to use our service, we need the following from you:
• Our signed Service Agreement.
Fax this back to us at to 818-366-6999 and we will start your Energy Procurement Process! You will be contacted by one of our highly trained Energy Consultants, who will be your single point of contact at our firm.
• We will then perform all of the work below, and present to you with an Energy Analysis in Executive Summary format.
We will:
• Analyze the last 18 months of usage data. Your staff may not have the time or expertise to analyze themselves.
• Correct any mischarges and have them credited back to you. (Our fee is 50% of whatever we recover. We run this through our parent company and have a separate agreement for this US Gas Electric & tel. Agreement.)
• Formalize a Procurement Strategy.
• Prepare a formal Request for Quotation, including all pertinent information.
• Send RFQ to the top Energy Companies in your market. (Approved Suppliers must meet our strict guidelines)
• Analyze and evaluate the bids.
• Present Executive Summary
• Negotiate a contract, with the winning bidder, with the best terms and conditions available in the marketplace on your behalf. (You must execute the contract)
• Present Client with Executable contract.
• Ensure contract is properly executed and implemented by Supplier.
• We manage your Energy on an ongoing basis! Once you become a client of Energy Savers 2, we will contact you on a quarterly basis to review all of your accounts. Should an opportunity exist to renegotiate your rates, we will do so —proactively! As a value add, our Energy Consultants will handle any and all matters related to your utility company... billing issues, address changes, location drops/adds etc.
Our Energy Management Fee
Regardless of which Electric Company or Natural Gas Company you choose, our fee is paid through the Supplier. The fee is generally equal to or less than the commission that would be paid to a salesperson that represents any individual energy company.
We are paid the same fee by each supplier. Making us completely unbiased!

Which Suppliers Do We Use?
• The Suppliers that Energy Savers 2 uses must pass our rigorous certification standards. We pride ourselves on our relationships with our approved Suppliers. Several of our suppliers have named our firm an Elite Partner. A status that we have earned and are very proud of.
• Each Approved Supplier must sign our Statement of Honesty and Integrity. If they don't sign it, or question it whatsoever, WE DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THEM, PERIOD! (We've taken a lot of heat from some Suppliers for this, but we believe it is in the best interest of our clients)
• We do business with the largest national providers as well as proven, smaller private regional providers.
• Each Supplier has different niche markets. We match the Supplier to the Client.
• Our Managing Director specializes in Supplier Certification.
• Each Supplier must pass a rigorous review process to become Certified. This includes, but is not limited to: financial analysis, performance in other markets, benchmark performance within the same market, interview of executive team and interview of current customers. We generally determine if the Supplier does what they say they are going to do?
• Supplier must make a clear statement of stability in a particular marketplace, or a clear exit strategy, which has the best interest of the client in mind.
• In this era of "cloudy" financial statements, our Managing Director relies on many "intangible" factors to evaluate a supplier, including interviewing the executive management team for a "gut feel" on the moral compass of their company. He also performs a background check on the management of the Suppliers.

Product Descriptions
Power purchasing options vary according to a company's size, location, energy usage and appetite for risk. The five most common types of electricity pricing products are listed below. The first four products also apply to natural gas (with the exception of the blend and extend).
Fixed price-full Requirements
Companies that require budget certainty and cannot bear price risk will select a fixed price-full requirements pricing strategy. "Full requirements" implies that a customer must take delivery of all of the operation's power needs at a certain price rate. Most suitable for the vast majority of commercial and industrial companies. When you include the “Blend and Extend” option provided by many suppliers, this is most attractive. With this, the contract price can be renegotiated (if the market goes down) and the length of term extended.
Fixed Price Block with remainder at index
For companies willing to shoulder some risk but have concerns about letting 100 percent of their energy pricing ride on the index, a block-and-index combination is a good choice. This offers the option of reducing price, while mitigating the risk of variable pricing.
This product lends itself well to a growing business that can layer in additional electricity usage as the business expands. The company can lock in a fixed price up front for a portion of its load and pay the index price for the remaining volumes. This strategy also makes sense if the company wants to lock in portions of the contract price at various times, since the company can buy multiple blocks of power over time.
Index Buying
Average of spot market settlements over the delivery period. Most suitable for industrial companies that can shed load, manage power consumption, pass on the cost of electricity to their customers, or use a majority of their energy during off-peak hours.
Index with Fixed Price Trigger
This allows companies to play the market with the option of locking in a price at a later time. Most Suitable for those willing to bear the risk of paying an index price but also want to take advantage of any market dips to lock in a fixed contract price. Companies considering this option should be able to handle a moderate degree of risk.
Heat Rate
Companies typically choose a heat rate product when they want to pay market-based prices and power indexes in the market are not available, or they are not as transparent as gas prices. Heat rate products are most popular when gas prices are expected to decline. Most suitable for companies having a strong commodities hedging function, sometimes choose heat rate-based electricity supply contracts. These companies are looking for ways to tie their expenses to expected revenue streams.
