Water is an increasingly valuable commodity. Whereas some parts of the country have historically recognized the value of water (the arid Southwest), other parts of the country where water has typically been plentiful are having supply issues due to population growth and environmental factors. As a result, more utilities are implementing programs to ensure that water is used as efficiently as possible. Many of these utilities have found that conservation pricing is integral to the success of their overall conservation program. The inclusion of a pricing component ensures that customers are receiving the appropriate financial signal that discretionary water use comes at a higher unit price.
RFC has significant expertise and experience in developing conservation-oriented rates and rate structures. Potential benefits of conservation pricing include delaying costly infrastructure expansions and enhanced environmental stewardship. Since each utility’s conservation objectives are different, there are a number of different rate structures that can be implemented to promote conservation. In order to establish and implement a conservation rate structure, it is necessary to:

The Audit Process
Our process involves the following stages. Throughout the process the client is kept abreast of our progress and a detailed report and analysis are presented prior to implementation of any claims or account changes.
1) Commencing The Analysis; Obtaining Information.
In this stage we obtain your utility account history detail from either the utility or the client. We also discover information about the facilities as needed. ES will obtain billing histories directly from the utilities using a Letter of Agency, as possible.
2) Performing the Analysis.
We then enter the data in to usable formats which can then be used to set billing parameters which indicate the need for further investigation. Using our proprietary software program, we develop hourly load profiles and review the cost under various alternative rate structures and operational scenarios. Experimental rates and programs are also evaluated. Further analysis, if warranted, is then performed and individually verified. In addition, ES researches current PUC programs and former PUC precedents to look for additional opportunities which you may benefit from.
3) Review of Past Charges and Optimizing Pricing
ES will also recalculate all billing that is suspect to verify charges. We attempt to verify meter read accuracy, demand charges, misapplied discounts and allowances, unapplied credits, power factor adjustments, and taxes. ES will review the applicability of tariffs for possible misclassification by the utilities. ES will review all overcharges to develop claims for refunds for the full length of term allowed by law that the overcharge may have occurred. We will discuss your case and negotiate with the utilities as needed. ES, at our discretion, will proceed to file complaints against the utility before the Public Utilities Commission for any unresolved issue.
4) Recommendations and Supplier Interaction

All suppliers will be ranked not only for price, but also for their stability and performance guarantees. 5) Continued Review of Best Available Pricing

Energy Savers Water Audit Service provides facilities with a comprehensive review of their current water use, and helps a hotel operator or building engineer evaluate how much water a property can save. Many people are looking at or actively taking part in some kind of water recycling scheme. Mostly these tend to be personal rainwater systems used to irrigate our gardens. A few more of the ecologically minded people out there may well have implemented rainwater harvesting systems for use within their household systems such as washing machines and toilets. If people are not already at least capturing rain water for irrigation purposes then you really should be. A discussion on Low Carbon Economy by Viridis already exists on the site looking at a number of issues surrounding rainwater harvesting, please take a look.
In Britain although hard to believe if you harvest rainwater depending on the size of your roof and number of people in the house you may have to top up for tank from the mains supply, this obviously isn’t ideal. One way to top up your water harvesting is to utilize your “Grey Water”. “Grey Water” refers to the water used in showers, baths and sinks. This can be then recycled and used in the flushing of toilets quite easily. The questions that have been raised with me are in reference to the ability of any systems to sufficient clean grey water to then add it to the rain water supply. Some systems claim to be able to do this, which obviously provides great benefit to those with rain water harvesting systems already in place. However opinion is split as to whether you really should be mixing grey and rain water in the first place.
A closed grey water system, meaning the water does not enter the overall rainwater system, will dump unused grey water after a certain period of time. This prevents water becoming stagnant, smelling and preventing bacteria from reacting with the biological debris present.
If a grey water system is open then all biological debris will need to be removed (skin, bacteria, hair) before it can be incorporated into the wider system. These pollutants have to be removed to make the water suitable for clothes washing, dishwater water and irrigation. There are a number of questions that are raised in the approach. Some implementers recommend that you don’t mix the grey and rain water for the following reasons:
• Bad smelling water
• Water with high level of bacteria present might not be suitable for washing clothes
• Residue being left in the water tank will need cleaning out more regularly
• Hair from grey water will clog up pumps around the house/appliances

Without chemically and mechanically cleaning the water, there are doubts as to whether or not just gravity alone pushing the grey water through filters can sufficiently clean the water to the required standard. Presently based on the weight of opinion I’ve polled 2 consistent points have come through:
• Yes use grey water as it is a thoroughly useful resource
• Do not mix grey and rain water

Can any suppliers/installers of the grey water filters shed any light on this subject as to previous installations and the capabilities of their products? Are there any homeowners out there that have a similar system in place now?

We must eliminate wasteful utilization of water, conserve our water sources and implement rigid conservation methods. We should utilize solar and or other source of renewable energy to operate desalinization projects from the oceans. Utilize renewable energy sources to purify and transport the water to its final destination. As world population increases the scarcity of water will become a cause for conflict, unless we take steps now to develop other sources of water for drinking, rainwater harvesting – storm-water and gray-water utilization. Designing of landscaping that uses minimal amount of water.

Product Descriptions
Power purchasing options vary according to a company's size, location, energy usage and appetite for risk. The five most common types of electricity pricing products are listed below. The first four products also apply to natural gas (with the exception of the blend and extend).
Fixed price-full Requirements
Companies that require budget certainty and cannot bear price risk will select a fixed price-full requirements pricing strategy. "Full requirements" implies that a customer must take delivery of all of the operation's power needs at a certain price rate. Most suitable for the vast majority of commercial and industrial companies. When you include the “Blend and Extend” option provided by many suppliers, this is most attractive. With this, the contract price can be renegotiated (if the market goes down) and the length of term extended.
Fixed Price Block with remainder at index
For companies willing to shoulder some risk but have concerns about letting 100 percent of their energy pricing ride on the index, a block-and-index combination is a good choice. This offers the option of reducing price, while mitigating the risk of variable pricing.
This product lends itself well to a growing business that can layer in additional electricity usage as the business expands. The company can lock in a fixed price up front for a portion of its load and pay the index price for the remaining volumes. This strategy also makes sense if the company wants to lock in portions of the contract price at various times, since the company can buy multiple blocks of power over time.
Index Buying
Average of spot market settlements over the delivery period. Most suitable for industrial companies that can shed load, manage power consumption, pass on the cost of electricity to their customers, or use a majority of their energy during off-peak hours.
Index with Fixed Price Trigger
This allows companies to play the market with the option of locking in a price at a later time. Most Suitable for those willing to bear the risk of paying an index price but also want to take advantage of any market dips to lock in a fixed contract price. Companies considering this option should be able to handle a moderate degree of risk.
Heat Rate
Companies typically choose a heat rate product when they want to pay market-based prices and power indexes in the market are not available, or they are not as transparent as gas prices. Heat rate products are most popular when gas prices are expected to decline. Most suitable for companies having a strong commodities hedging function, sometimes choose heat rate-based electricity supply contracts. These companies are looking for ways to tie their expenses to expected revenue streams.

• Properly review this expense by analyzing your past 14-month usage patterns. Your staff may not have the time or expertise to analyze themselves. We will correct billing errors and process refunds.
• We will then professionally negotiate proposals from the most qualified Telecom Suppliers and present to you, along with our written recommendation in Executive Summary format. With our recommendation, you decide which Telecommunications Carrier and Solution to use.

• Each Approved Supplier must sign our Statement of Honesty and Integrity. If they don't sign it, or question it whatsoever, WE DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THEM, PERIOD! (We've taken a lot of heat from some Suppliers for this, but we believe it is in the best interest of our clients)
• We do business with the largest national providers as well as proven, smaller private regional providers.
• Each Supplier has different niche markets. We match the Supplier to the Client.
• Our Founder and CEO specializes in Supplier Certification.
• Each Supplier must pass a rigorous review process to become Certified. This includes, but is not limited to: financial analysis, performance in other markets, benchmark performance within the same market, interview of executive team and interview of current customers. We generally determine if the Supplier does what they say they are going to do?
• Supplier must make a clear statement of stability in a particular marketplace, or a clear exit strategy, which has the best interest of the client in mind.
• In this era of "cloudy" financial statements, our Founder and CEO relies on many "intangible" factors to evaluate a supplier, including interviewing the executive management team for a "gut feel" on the moral compass of their company. He also performs a background check on the management of the Suppliers.
